At Best Body Bootcamp, we are passionate about educating, motivating & leading people to better fitness and health. As holistic lifestyle coaches we believe that fitness and health are a journey, and we all must work towards it every single day! We owe it to ourselves to balance our stress filed lives with daily physical activity, organic whole food, and much needed down time.

Our mission is focused on engaging 10,000 people to a fit and healthy lifestyle by the year 2020. Because our bootcamps are neighbourhood based, we are committed to getting involved in our communities and contributing whenever we can. Roger Nahas – Owner & Coach

My journey in fitness and nutrition is a little different than most.  You see, I’m a former fat kid! The kid who was a total introvert!  I was always the guy who was too embarrassed to take his shirt off at the beach!   But I remember the day everything changed for me – I looked in the mirror and wasn’t happy with what I saw.  I made the decision to change my body and my life.  It was 1999 and I took a before pic and measurements and body fat and I entered the Body for Life Challenge.  Over the next 90 days, I completely changed my eating habits, and worked out regularly.   The before and after pic you see below is the result of my hard work.  I actually was awarded the Canadian Grand Champion for my age category

I was no longer the fat kid.  I looked forward to getting to a beach so I could take my shirt off and I became more outgoing and fun! After seeing the difference it made in my life I decided that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping people realize the amazing benefits of optimal health and fitness.

I started out as most trainers do in your typical gym.  After years of working in a gym setting, Daniela and I were getting disillusioned with how Big Box Gyms operated.   We wanted to train people functionally and to make their bodies strong in the movements they used in the real word.  We wanted to make working with a highly trained instructor more affordable, and we wanted to make fitness fun because let’s face it; if you are having a blast, it makes it that much easier to stick to it.  The result was the launching of Best Body Bootcamp in 2007.  We started out with one location and have grown it to what it is today!

I have to tell you that although I looked great in the after pic above, the food and exercise plans I followed to get that after pic, hurt me in the long run.  It made me look good from the outside but my body was breaking down on the inside.  The way I was working out and what I thought was healthy eating was in fact hurting me in the long run.  I was over training, taking longer to recover from my workouts, I tore my rotator cuff and had gut issues.   Nothing I could do was helping and then I was introduced to a C.H.E.K Holistic Lifestyle Coach who helped me. Turns out I was stressing my body beyond repair and then giving it food that wasn’t helping but was actually stressing my body even more.  He made me look at my body and the food I put into it in a totally different way.

That lead me to complete my certification as a C.H.E.K Holistic Lifestyle Coach and we pass that knowledge on and encourage holistic nutrition to our members.

In addition to running the day-to-day operations of Best Body Bootcamp, I also work with individual clients doing fitness training as well as holistic nutrition and lifestyle coaching.

When I’ve got a bit of free time, I spend as much of it as possible with my wife and son, I bike year round, play hockey, practice Tai Chi daily, read & take courses.

Daniela Nahas – Owner & Coach

It’s hard to believe that Roger and I started Best Body Bootcamp 9 years ago! How we have grown and evolved over the years!

My journey in fitness and health began about 15 years ago. Before that, like many of you I struggled with yo-yo dieting, and doing countless hours of cardio just to stay looking slim. Boy I wish I could talk some sense into my past self! But health is a journey and I am so grateful for all of my experiences, which have shaped what I have to offer our members today.

Over the years I have experienced first hand the life changing benefits of incorporating the right kind of exercise into my life. That motivated me to become a personal trainer 15 years ago, and it still continues to motivate me today. I want everyone to be able to to experience what exercise can do for their well being, self confidence and physique.

I used to struggle with my nutrition in a big way, so I completely empathise with you, if this is the hardest part for you when it comes to seeing long term change. I once struggled with eating disorders, followed by any years of a very negative relationship to food, even during my initial years as a personal trainer.

It occurred to me one day that I could not help my clients make changes and make better choices, without first focusing on myself. It was through completing my Holistic Lifestyle Coach Certification that I was able to change my relationship to food and be able to genuinely help clients get closer to their goals.

My increasing passion for nutrition and health led me to become certified as a Health Coach. As a health coach, I am able to help my clients delve deeper into your relationship with food and their health. What lies beneath our patterns and habits is fascinating and when you can tap into that it can have an incredibly powerful impact on our lives, and bring about real change!

These days I leave most of the bootcamp training to our awesome trainers, but I continue to share my passion for nutrition and fitness in our private member facebook group and work on our ever evolving member offerings.

My other passion? I am the luckiest mom to a 6-year-old boy. He keeps me on my toes and I must admit has helped me grow in ways I never thought possible. Together with hubby Roger Nahas, we like to spend plenty of time outdoors, along with the latest family hobby – board games.

When I get me time, I like to do yoga, read, cook, and spend time in nature.

Steve – Queen West Coach

My name is Steve and I am the proud coach for the Queen West location!

My journey in fitness started early in school when I joined the track and field team. Once I started taking fitness classes in high school I naturally combined the benefits of plyometric training and resistance training to make gains in my 100M dash and high jump events that I competed in.

It was around this time I was first introduced to yoga. At first, I only knew yoga to be something I could do to increase my recovery time and ROM (range of motion). It wasn’t too long before I became a certified yoga teacher. After developing my skills in instructing students through poses I was eventually introduced to Acroyoga. Naturally, I dove into Acroyoga and became a certified Partner Acrobatics teacher (acroyoga).

After teaching yoga/acroyoga for over a year and a half I decided to take my overall resistance training, understanding of the bodies anatomy and how it moves (kinesiology) more seriously. I am now a certified personal trainer and am enjoying training and helping my clients reach their goals.

In my spare time, I am either taking or teaching workshops for acroyoga at festivals or yoga studios. Continuing to learn is an active and natural part of my life. By choosing to look at things from the perspective of a student I am able to learn so much more from the individuals I train or train under – always putting into perspective how to express and articulate concepts better depending on the situation and audience.

Joe – Beaches Coach

Hi, my name is Joe and I am the Coach for the Beaches location.

I have always been an active person. Soccer (my biggest passion), athletics, martial arts, weight lifting and yoga are activities I have enjoyed throughout my life. Since my early teens I developed an interest in nutrition and the effects different foods have on body composition, performance, mood and general health. I feel these interests that I naturally gravitated towards form a young age had an amazing impact on my life.

However for a period after college I lost touch with regular physical activity and led an unhealthy sedentary lifestyle sitting in an office all day and not investing time into my own health and well being. However having turned this around I decided my future career was going to be in health and fitness to help people make positive changes so that they can experience a better quality of life. Since I decided to change career in 2016 I completed Sports Nutrition, Fitness Instruction and Personal training certificates.

In my free time, I spend as much of it as possible outdoors usually biking or playing soccer and of course, some binging on Netflix every now and then!

I consider my training methods to be friendly and relaxed, while pushing enough to ensure my clients reach their desired outcome. My underlying philosophy is that the key to achieving and maintaining your goals, is to gradually integrate consistent healthy habits into your lifestyle and maintain these changes in the long run. Think of your fitness journey as a marathon, not a sprint!

Aaron Tsang – North York Coach

Hey everyone! My name is Aaron Tsang and I’m the coach for the North York location!

I see exercise and fitness as the answer to most problems one would have in life. Whether they are health-related issues or not, exercise can be a great asset to help! Stressed out or having anxiety? Exercising will make you feel better. Feeling like you never have enough energy? Once again exercise is the way to go to feel energized! As long as you are doing it right, exercise and fitness will be a great asset to improving your lifestyle!

Since I was 10 years old, I’ve always had a passion for fitness and exercising. I’ve always enjoyed sports growing up, and my journey to fitness was solidified when I first received my own weight set! Over the years I tried gathering as much knowledge and experience as possible living the healthy lifestyle until I decided to make it into my career.

I went to University and got my Degree in Physical and Health Education, and then to College where I worked under a National level lifter and Coach to get my Diploma in Strength and Sports Conditioning. During this time I was introduced to the sport of Power Lifting where I started competing and coaching other upcoming athletes in the Power Lifting Club.

I love sharing all the knowledge and experience I have attained with others. It’s a wonderful feeling knowing that I am able to help people improve their lives and to hit goals they didn’t think were attainable before!

Fitness is more than just a few hours you spend at the gym every week. It’s a lifestyle, what your beliefs are, and what decisions you make. If you’re ready to make that change to have a healthy lifestyle, I’m ready to be there and help you attain it!

Haley Gordon-Martin – Coach   

Hi, my name is Haley and I am a coach at Best Body Bootcamp!

Starting at the young age of 12 I have had a passion for fitness and nutrition. Through the years I have had my own ups and downs with fitness and nutrition, but each struggle and success have made me into the person I am today. Someone who has been through the weight loss/gain battle. Someone who has struggled with body image and self-confidence. And someone who has tried all the diets, the fads, and exercise styles. I have been a runner, I have been a non-competitive bodybuilder and I have been a yogi.

My journey has brought me to a place where I feel confident in my ability to help others wade through the fitness and nutrition myths and confusing information to help them get to their best self. This is my true passion helping others feel their best inside and out.

To me fitness is not about what your resting heart rate is or how much you can squat, it’s about respecting your body. Respecting your body enough to not just live but thrive, to truly be alive! When you commit to an exercise program and healthy eating plan you are making a commitment to improving your life. When you invest in your health all other aspects of your life will improve, your relationships, your work, your family and your outlook on life. The desire to improve your body is what got you here, but the improvements in all other aspects of your life are what will keep you here, long after you’ve reach your physical goals.

Over the past year, I have attended classes at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition to become a registered Holistic Nutritionist. It has been a life-changing year for me and has prepared me to help others truly understand their nutritional needs. I also hold certifications in nutrition coaching, stretching, personal training and group fitness.
