Many people keep an herb garden and use herbs sparingly, but few people truly realize the amazing benefits that some common herbs truly have.
One of my daily staples, and my favourite, is cilantro. It’s actually quite interesting that I’ve always been drawn to this herb, but not until more recently did I realize how great it is for you!…now I add it to as many dishes as I can.
So what’s so great about cilantro anyway?
Well for starters, it is an amazing heavy metal detoxifier. It has the ability to remove mercury and aluminum from your body that may be stored in our fat tissues. Even if you think heavy metal toxicity is not an issue for you, believe me it likely is. Toxicity gets passed down through generations, so if your mother, grandmother, or great grandmother ingested high levels of heavy metals then that will have been passed down to you. What’s more is that the unfortunate fact is that we live in a world that is full of toxins and avoiding them all together is nearly impossible. But amazing foods such as cilantro can definitely help!
According to Anthony Williams, author of The Medical Medium, when combined with blue green algea (such as spirulina) Cilantro is also able to move mercury from the central nervous system and brain by separating it from the fat tissue and moving into the blood & lymph and out of the body.
Cilantro also rich in vitamins A, C, K and minerals such as calcium and magnesium and is a powerful antioxidant that will help keep your body healthy and alkaline.
There are countless ways to include it in your diet: add it to salads, dips such as guacamole, top soups and stews with it, make pesto, and sauces.
QUICK TIP: Keep cilantro bunch tied and cut off the end just above the elastic. Soak in water a tablespoon of vinegar for about 5 min, rinse and drain and then let dry on a flat surface over a tea towel. Once it’s dry wrap in a dry tea towel and use as needed. It keeps well for about 3-4 days. I don’t even bother removing the stems anymore, they are super tasty in salads and it saves loads of time!
Have a healthy and fit day!
